There are many different types of marijuana, or cannabis. Generally, these types or strains can be grouped into three categories: Indica, Sativa, or Hybrid. Indica and Sativa have existed for a couple of centuries, but Hybrid cannabis is relatively new and, as you might guess, is a combination of different strains from around the globe. Indica is a stronger type of marijuana which can really help a person's body to relax and so is best used at night time, while watching a movie or in preparation for bed time. There are some differences in the way Indica and Sativa physically look, for instance the leaves of Indica strains are darker green than the leaves of Sativa strains. As for medical use, Indica can help with anxiety, muscular fatigue, insomnia, and others. Some popular Indica strains are Grandaddy Purple, Northern Lights, and Grape Ape. On the other hand sativa strains have lighter green leaves and produce more euphoria and creativity than Indica does. . Instead of being used to relax at home, Sativa can give you energy and so people use it before they exercise, go to social gatherings, or need to work on a project. Because of its energizing effects, Sativa is used more in the mornings or in the afternoon. Sativa can be used to help depression, mood disorders, ADD/ADHD, and other mental health issues. Popular Sativa strains include Sour Diesel, Lemon Haze, and Jack Herer. Hybrid strains combine Indica and Sativa so that the user can get the benefits of both types. Whereas Indica is more relaxing and sativa is more energizing, hybrid strains fall somewhere in between; it really depends on which strains were used to create the hybrid. What really matters when talking about Hybrid strains is what levels of each cannabis compound, or cannabinoids, are in a particular strain. THC, CBD, and CBN all have different effects. For instance, THC is the psychoactive component of marijuana, so will make a user more euphoric, while CBD can reduce anxiety.
